Last Chance

Inspired by some photos I have of a crew of friends who took a motorcycle trip out west from Maine in 1948.

To me, the woman is a stand-in for Rosie the Riveter. The storm of WWII has passed, and Rosie is looking forward to a future of exciting possibilities. What she, and other women of her era didn't know, is that they would soon be relegated back to home and and a life of housewife and mother. So this was in retrospect, the last chance for many women to experience a life of possibilities before life in the neighborhood took over.
